Lots of people do. Months of planning is tiring. Also most people don't drink all day and night. So yeah is easy to pass out. Wedding night sex isn't as common as you think

I lost my virginity on my wedding night... well.. actually we didn't have sex until the next day because we both passed out in the hotel bed. The sex was good the next day though.
