Special Education Teachers Share What Their Jobs Are Really Like
The content below was sourced from real posts on the Whisper app, the largest online community where people anonymously share real thoughts and feelings. Join the community to continue the conversation today. We have so many reasons to thank teachers. They lift the world up and change minds. This often thankless job is one of the most important ones, when it comes to our own mental growth. This is especially the case for kids with developmental growth issues and other learning disabilities. These special education teachers get totally honest about their jobs, lives and the kids they teach. After reading their confessions, you too may believe that not all heroes wear capes! Please remember that everyone deserves love and respect, no matter how differences you have with them.

Beautiful.

Being a special ed teacher has changed my view on having kids.
If my kids have special needs when I’m older, it just makes them super special and I can handle it :)

You never know.

Love when I instantly get judged for my piercings and tattoos.
Funny they don't know I teach special needs kids. You can't judge a book by its cover

So upsetting.

I’m a special needs teacher and it breaks my heart to see the way some of the parents talk to the kids

Working with level 3 special education students is a roller coster of emotions. One minute they love you, then they're hitting you, & the next they're making you laugh.

It's not easy.

I teach special needs kids and last Tuesday a child with autism head-butted me in the jaw. My teeth slammed together so hard that it shattered my filling. I'm mad, but feel horrible about being mad.

Every kid is different.

I'm a special needs teacher. It's very easy handling autistic kids, I don't get why so many people think otherwise.
